The anticipation is unbearable. Leadville yippee card, where are you???
It is ridiculously windy here in 417-Land. There was mtb ride planned for today leaving from HQ of the Bonk Hard Chill.
A nice long ride, planned particularly to avoid the gusting wind, followed by watching our friends win the race (yeah, we have very high expectations of our friends-after all, second place is first loser). Pre-ride reports listed the trails as "sloppy." Now, I don't mind riding in some mud, but when the mud is sloppy enough to destroy parts on your bike (being as how I don't have a sponsor willing to just replace ridiculously expensive parts on my bike for free), I don't much care for trashing my bike on a training ride. So I'm stuck with a windy road ride today. Maybe the 40 mph gusts will subside enough for me to get in a 4 hour ride, maybe some hill repeats.
Bryan is off to his mother's to clean up the damage from last week's ice storm. They lost power for quite some time and the damage to trees is somewhat like what we saw the past 2 years. The girls and I are having some mother/daughter time. They'd prefer to be with their friends, or boyfriend, or really anyone but me. I believe it is a stage and it will pass. We definitely need some together time now, because when that Leadville confirmation DOES arrive, they're going to miss me.
