I'm waiting and I'm not at all happy about it. Leadville entry selections were supposedly made last Saturday, January 31, and we should be hearing yea or nay at any moment. I check my online bank account obsessively about every 45 minutes. Like the Leadville operation has time to electronically process my check...or maybe they do. I have never wished for someone to take $250 OUT of my checking account any more than I have wished for them to take it like, yesterday!
Training has begun and, at this point, its more maintaining my base than anything. I've been focusing on HR and watts on the trainer and can say that when I use the HR monitor only, I feel like I'm in pretty darn good shape. Watts...they're another story and I don't really like them right now.
Because the weather took a turn for the better last weekend (after yet another ice storm), we were able to get in some good road rides both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday was a nice easy 2 hour ride on some gentle rollers. Sunday was our club Super Bowl ride and several of us decided to pre-ride the loop, turning it into a nice and much needed 3 hour ride. Most of our time was spent traveling into a headwind or cross wind, but we still managed to average 16.2 mph...hills and all. I was pleased, particularly with it being February 1!
Big plans in the works for the upcoming weekend and a trip to the lake to get in some really good trail riding on Saturday and, hopefully, watch our friends win a race.
